Campagnano di Roma (Rome, Italy), 17 May 2022 - The Vallelunga circuit was the stage for last weekend's opening round of the 2022 Moto Guzzi Fast Endurance Trophy. The two 60-minute “mini-endurance” races, run at the circuit in Rome, inaugurated this latest edition of the single-brand Eagle trophy, in which the new Moto Guzzi V7 Trofeo has made its successful track début alongside the tried and tested race version of the V7 III.

Powered by the 850cc twin, complete with GCorse Racing Kit and Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp RS tyres, the new Moto Guzzi V7 raises the bar when it comes to racing, proving more stable in braking and achieving impressive top speeds while remaining easy, accessible and suitable for all riders.

The first wins aboard the "eight and a half" V7 went to team 598 Corse, comprising Emiliano Bellucci and Stefano Nari. Already very fast in qualifying, setting pole position with an average best of 1’58”208, the two Tuscan riders powered to victory on Saturday and again in Sunday's race, when they further improved on their lap times. Their fastest overall time, an incredible 1’57”248, set at an average of more than 126 km/h, underlines the effectiveness of the Moto Guzzi V7 in its “racing” version, more than two seconds a lap quicker than the V7 III.

The Tulli Racing and Guaracing Factory Team 1 squads made up the rest of the podium. Alessandro Ioghà and Marco Leardini finished as runners-up in Race 1, while Race 2 saw the teams finish the other way around, with Gianfranco Rubini and Jacopo Rizzardi closing second, after Tulli Racing also received a penalty for excessive speed along pitlane.

It was a double celebration for 598 Corse, as its “sister” team Garage 71 was the strongest among the V7 III entries in both races. The podiums reserved for the 750 class saw race winners Samuele Colonna and Dario Appella joined by the Rapaci 1 (Mauro Rossignoli-Luca Fornasiero) and 2 teams (Pierluigi Begossi-Marco Mirenda).

The next event will take place at the Cremona Circuit, a new entry on the Trophy calendar, and will involve the longest “mini-endurance” of the season, a 90-minute race, set to run on 17 July. That will be followed by another new track for 2022, the spectacular circuit of Mugello (28 August), before the grand finale plays out at Misano with a double-header on 15 and 16 October, the first of the races set to run at night.
