Noale (Italy), 14 June 2024 - On Saturday, 8 June, the Misano racetrack was the venue of a record-setting edition of Aprilia All Stars. Among the many activities dedicated to them, the twenty thousand plus fans who invaded the paddock of the Italian circuit had the chance to witness the first Race of Stars, an original two-person team competition between the best Aprilia riders of past and present astride strictly factory Aprilia RS 660 Extrema machines.

In fact, the race rules, developed in collaboration with FMI, require the RS 660 Extrema machines to be exactly as they come off the assembly line, with the sole exception of the rear-view mirrors and the license plate holder, removed for use on the track. The riders therefore raced with RS 660 Extrema bikes in original configuration and with the ABS system normally active. It is also interesting that the suspension set up used is the one recommended by the bike’s operation and maintenance manual for track use and none of the champions in the race needed to make any changes to it.

The result was a thrilling race which began with an entertaining Le Mans style start, and was made more exciting by two rider changes where the riders squeezed all the power out of the medium sport bike from Noale in the Extrema version - the most sporty and lightweight in the range, 166 kg dry weight with 100 HP - shod for the occasion with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC1 tyres.

The champions had a grand time in the race, where the duo made up of Miguel Oliveira, MotoGP rider for team Trackhouse, and MotoGP legend Loris Capirossi prevailed. And it was the Portuguese team Trackhouse rider who did the record lap, with a time of 1’45”467.

But all the riders, both in practice and in the race, lapped with fantastic times, incredible readings, consistently between 45” and 46”, achieved after just a few available laps for qualifying. These times once again demonstrate the great features of the medium sport bike from Noale and how easy it is to ride.

And extremely fun bike, conceived and designed for fun on the road, but also super effective on the track, with dynamic features such as speed in turns which have already become a global reference point for factory bikes.
Credit goes to Aprilia’s fortunate 660 project which skilfully interprets sportiness in an innovative and modern way through a range of lightweight and high-performance bikes with technical and electronic features usually reserved for models in higher categories. A bike capable of thrilling in sport riding but, at the same time accessible and fun as a daily rider and in the hands of novice bikers as well.

Aprilia RS 660 Extrema. This is the lightest and sportiest RS 660 in the range. Thanks to the refined factory components, RS 660 Extrema tips the scale at just 166 kg dry, raising the bar in terms of weight to power ratio (which comes in at 100 HP, a record for the category). The factory equipment includes a lighter exhaust system homologated by SC Project with carbon silencer on the right side (and no longer beneath the engine). Contributing to the overall low weight are also the front mudguard and the lug under the engine with its brand-new design, both made in high-quality carbon.

The sporty extraction of the RS 660 Extrema is also emphasised by the single seat tail (the passenger’s seat is provided with the bike). In addition to the wealth of features that already come standard on the RS 660 (which include traction control, ABS cornering, engine brake, engine map, and wheelie control - all adjustable), RS 660 Extrema also has the software that allows you to set up the quick shift in the upside-down configuration. This means that you can configure the gearbox entirely on your own, without replacing any parts on the bike, in street or upside-down version - ideal for the occasional track day.
