26 July 2023 - Introducing Piaggio MP3 Life Support, the Piaggio three-wheeled scooter outfitted with a specific equipment package for first responders, in the new 400 and 530 hpe versions, raising the safety and technology level even further.
In addition to the Piaggio Mp3’s usual winning features of agility and manoeuvrability in heavy traffic, combined with its great stability and safety even on slippery surfaces thanks to the two front wheels and the exclusive, patented suspension system, the new 400 and 530 hpe versions also include advanced technological equipment, thereby making Piaggio MP3 an even more ideal vehicle for use in first response situations.
In particular, the 530 hpe is the first scooter in the world to feature ARAS assisted riding systems which play a fundamental role in active safety, ensuring the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) function, which warns the rider of the presence of vehicles in the rear-view mirror blind spots through a special signal on the colour TFT display. Another feature exclusive to Piaggio MP3 is the reverse gear, now with a built-in rear-view camera which allows for even easier and safer use.

The new Piaggio MP3 400 and 530 hpe Life Support units replace the previous versions which were used by the national emergency services in several countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Australia, and in particular Israel where, with more than 650 vehicles available, has made it the feather in the cap of their rescue fleet.

From last year, Piaggio MP3 Life Support has also been provided to some volunteer association rescue workers (and will soon be available to the various emergency response services), representing one of the top applications of this vehicle in the Italian emergency field, made possible thanks to changes to the Highway Code which took effect in late 2021, allowing the vehicles - among other things - to also be used for emergency healthcare first response (transport of medical and health facility staff).
In the First Response systems where it has been used, Piaggio MP3 Life Support has proven to be an ideal vehicle for reducing response times and optimising resources, responding to an average of 10 calls per day, stabilising the patient until the ambulance can arrive if necessary, or resolving the call altogether without distracting the ambulance and the relative rescue crew from other urgencies.
Compared with a classic Piaggio MP3, the Life Support equipment package provides flashing LED lights and front sirens, an electric telescopic rod with 360° flashing LED light and high-reflective adhesive tape. The addition of the top box increases cargo capacity up to 102 litres, making the vehicle suitable for easily transporting pre-hospital medical first aid material including BLS (Basic Life Support) and ALS (Advance Life Support), defibrillators, cervical collars, medication sets, oxygen bottles, respiratory kits, and infusion sets.
