July 2024 (G.T.) – Andrea Panizza, the athlete from the “Moto Guzzi” rowing club in Mandello del Lario, and the “Fiamme Gialle”, has just turned 26. For him, this was a particularly special birthday, celebrated whilst training for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Indeed, Andrea is one of the Italian athletes who will be taking part in the XXXIII (33rd) Summer Olympic Games (26 July 2024-11 August 2024). And he has the support of a "super fan": Giuseppe Moioli (born in 1927, 97 years old and as determined as ever), gold medallist in the "coxless four" at the 1948 London Olympic Games, and winner of six European titles between 1947 and 1958 (he took part in four Olympics and six European Championships in total). A life spent training with the Moto Guzzi rowing club, on the banks of Lake Como.

Moioli has been supporting Andrea since the very beginning. Theirs is a wonderful story, and symbolises a prime example of the way skills and passion can be passed down through the generations: a story of sport and friendship that makes light of the 70-plus year age difference between the two athletes. The 14 rowing events will be held between 27 July and 3 August 2024. The races will be held at the magnificent Nautical Stadium in Vaires-sur-Marne, 39 km from the Olympic and Paralympic Village.
