29 March 2023 - Confindustria ANCMA (Associazione Nazionale Ciclo Motociclo Accessori), the Italian Association of Motorcycle manufacturers and distributors, joins the Swappable Battery Motorcycle Consortium, established in 2021 out of an initiative of manufacturers Honda, KTM, Piaggio, and Yamaha to promote the distribution of electric two-wheelers through actions such as the standardisation of swappable batteries and exchange systems. ANCMA joins as an associate member to support the purposes of the consortium on an Italian level with its operations of advocacy and relations with the institutions.

ANCMA joining the Swappable Battery Motorcycle Consortium, which now includes about 40 industrial organisations, between motorcycle, battery, and component manufacturers, coincides with a time of strong expansion of electric mobility in Italy, especially in urban areas. In fact, in 2022, the number of electric motorcycles was up +59% compared to the previous year, with mopeds and scooters playing a prominent role that led to the electric segment currently representing more than 8% of the entire two-wheel market.
