January 2023 (G.T.) – An article published by the French magazine Paddock-GP ( www.paddock-gp.com) scooped by Paul-Emile Viel came across our desks, with the title “Unusual: an Aprilia RSV4 transformed into... a snowmobile with over 200 HP!” Sceptics be warned: it’s all true and we have... proof. Photos and videos posted on the Instagram account of the Canadian engineer from Ontario – nickname The.Mechatist – who conceived and created this snowmobile, probably the only one of its kind in the world.

Viel writes, “The Aprilia RSV4 is one of the best superbikes on the market. Despite the fact that this bike is over 10 years old (editor’s note: we should point out that this Aprilia brand bike has evolved continuously, positioning itself at the top of the category in terms of technology and performance), in many cases, it still holds up in the comparative tests thanks to its incomparable ease of use, fun, and effective performance on the track and on the road.”

Viel continues, “RSV4 owners understand the value of the model. In fact, in some cases, they are so attached that they can’t bear to be apart from it even when it snows. Proof of this is the conversion implemented by the engineer, nicknamed the.mechatist, residing in Ontario, Canada, and presented in an Instagram post.”

The Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory transformed into a super, high-performance snowmobile, flying over the winter roads (to the great enjoyment of the engineer), maintained the original 1099 cc V4 engine with its 214 horsepower and 125 nm of torque (the latest version of the RSV4 boasts 217 HP); all the rest was “reinvented” by the engineer, from the fairings to the brakes, from the oscillating arms to the suspension, single ski up front and track at the rear, to give the vehicle the ability to tackle extreme and treacherous terrain.

On Instagram, the engineer explains the conception and the steps in creating the incredible snowmobile, also mentioning that he sent the ECU to Texas to have it calibrated for this application. The result is astonishing: applause for the engineer, a true Aprilia fan.
