In the Campidoglio Protomoteca hall, the President of the Italian Swimming Federation, Paolo Barelli, the Mayor of Rome, as well as host, Roberto Gualtieri, the Under-secretary of State for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers with delegation for sport, Valentina Vezzali, the President of the Lazio Region, Nicola Zingaretti, the President and CEO of Sport e Salute, Vito Cozzoli, and world champions, Gregorio Paltrinieri, Lucrezia Ruggiero, and Giorgio Minisini introduced the Roman and international summer sport event in the press conference moderated by the ambassador, Massimiliano Rosolino.
The official video. A minute and a half between Dolce Vita and Grande Bellezza. The winner of it all, Gregorio Paltrinieri, and Ukrainian 400 freestyle champion, Karyna Snitko ride through the Capital on a Vespa like Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday, going through Piazza Navona, the Castel Sant'Angelo bridge, la Gianicolo Paola Fountain, and Piazza del Popolo to reach the Trevi Fountain, where they tossed in two coins and made a wish: successful European championships and the end of conflicts in the world. In the end, the coins will dissolve into swimmers, synchronised swimmers, and divers.
Wonderful Medals. The medals (231 up for grabs) represent the dreams of 1,500 athletes from 50 nations and depict the combination of sport and history. On the front, a design that changes depending on the discipline and on the back, the Colosseum, emblem of the Italian Capital and a stadium used by gladiators and naumachies, encompassed by a drop of water.
