March 2023 (G.T.) – In the area of the long-term collaboration between Magen David Adom and Piaggio Group Corporate Business, our editorial staff has learned of news that is certainly worth a mention. One of the Piaggio MP3 Life Support 500cc vehicles outfitted for rescue operations and first medical aid – No. 5062 – has been donated by the ‘Amici di Magen David Adom d’Italia’ (Italian Friends of Magen David Adom) Association to the MDA organisation in Israel “in honour” of Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic. The Managing Board Member of the Secretariat Office of the President of the Italian Republic, in a letter responding to the President of the ‘Amici del Magen David Adom ETS in Italia’ Association, Sami Sisa, expressed thanks on behalf of the Head of State “for having involved him in the initiative promoted by the association relative to the purchase of a ‘moto medica’ in support of the Israeli National Pre-Hospital Emergency Service, dedicated to him as a symbol of all the Italian supporters of 'Amici di Magen David Adom’”, as well as appreciation for the touching gesture.

Last fall, representatives of the ‘Amici di Magen David Adom Italia’ Association visited Israel. “Not only was it possible to demonstrate the operations of the MDA vehicles and structures to a large group of donors from Milan and Turin, but in a single day, no fewer than three vehicles were officially donated from Italy to the Magen David Adom rescue organisation.”

And there’s more: “The most touching part of the visit was in the plaza in front of the centre. With a small ceremony, three vehicles donated by Italian supporters were dedicated to Magen David Adom: the Kia Picanto rescue car, dedicated in memory of Eugenio Borroni; a bike dedicated to Vittorio Heneisc & Isacco-Clamo-Evelin Meghnagi (already operational in 2019, but not officially dedicated due to the pandemic), and the Piaggio MP3 Life Support dedicated to the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella. On hand to represent MDA was YonatanYagodovsky, Director of International Relations for the Organisation.” In his thank-you letter, he highlighted that “Magen David Adom provides emergency medical services to the Israeli people in routine and emergency situations through the deployment and use of ambulances, mobile intensive care units, cars, and motorcycles which are all acquired thanks to generous contributions of donors.” For more than 90 years.
Magen David Adom-MDA (“Red Shield of David”) is the Emergency Medical, Civil Protection, Ambulance, and Blood Bank Service of the State of Israel, equivalent to the ‘Croce Rossa’ (Italian Red Cross), the ‘Mezza Luna Rossa’ (Red Half Moon) and other similar national services.

And the MDA vehicle pool, in addition to the three recently donated by Italians, has for years included the fleet of Piaggio MP3 Life Support 500cc maxi-scooters (equipped with sirens, flashing lights, medical kit) used by paramedics of the motorcycle unit for rapid-response medical rescue operations. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
