NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD IN 2025 IN THE STATE OF QUEENSLAND. “IN THE MEANTIME – SAID JULIE POND, THE PRESIDENT OF THE VESPA CLUB OF AUSTRALIA – THERE’S A LARGE NUMBER OF AUSTRALIAN MEMBERS TRAVELLING TO VESPA WORLD DAYS IN SWITZERLAND IN JUNE”.

Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia March 24-26 - Around 300 Vespisti (Vespa fans) from around Australia and the world have converged on the small rural town of Wangaratta, Victoria for the first Australian Vespa Days 2023. Organized by the Vespa Club of Australia, the event successfully brought the style and tradition of the Vespa World Days events to Australia and has set a benchmark for future events there.

A highlight was the Opening Ceremony, where local indigenous elder Uncle Dozer performed a ‘Welcome to Country’ to a hushed crowd. “I knew from that moment that this event was going to be very special,” said Ms. Julie Pond, the President of the Vespa Club of Australia.
The event went on to include a very large public breakfast gathering of Vespa in the central town park, seven organized rides out to the countryside, and a cavalcade ride on the final day.
At the formal Gala Dinner, Vespisti were welcomed by video of Presidents from around the world. In particular, the address recorded by Mauro Calestrini, the President of the Vespa World Club, was well received and applauded.

Another highlight was the big turnout of historical and vintage Vespa, as well as a number of Ape and even a Vespa 400. “We really tried to celebrate the history of Vespa in Australia, and we featured the historical models throughout the event,” said Julie. “There was even a country ride organized for the old rod models and led by an Ape.”

Australian Vespa Days is fully supported by Vespa Australia, the local importer and representative of Piaggio in Australia. After a discussion by the Australian club Presidents at the event it was announced that the next Australian Vespa Days would be held in 2025 in the State of Queensland. The exact dates and location will be announced soon, giving plenty of time for international riders to plan their visit.
In the meantime, there’s a large number of Australian members travelling to Vespa World Days in Switzerland in June,” said Julie (photo below, ed.’s note). “We can’t wait to see you there!
